Bass Rock

I live very close to the Fife Coastal Path and most mornings I enjoy uninterrupted views across the Firth of Forth to Bass Rock, North Berwick Law and the Isle of May. In this panel I’ve tried to capture the vertical shafts of light hitting Bass Rock, silhouetting it against the coastline and hills which recede into the distance behind it. I have selected a slightly iridescent and textured glass to form the undulating waves, as I wanted to convey the shimmering quality of the sea in summer. In form and composition, I have sought to balance each element in order to convey the natural harmony between sea, sky and land.
